Andrew Charlton: Wesfarmers Advisor
Andrew Charlton has gone back and forth between economics and politics in his career. He was the former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s senior economic advisor and the country’s senior representative to the G20 Leaders Forum. Outside of politics, Charlton is a prominent economic academic. He has many publications, including two books: Fair Trade for All, which he wrote with frequent collaborator Joseph Stieglitz, and Ozonomics, an explanation of how the Australian economy works for normal, everyday people.
Charlton’s articles on various economic issues facing Australia and the world have appeared in many different internationally known economic journals including the American Economic Review and the World Trade Review. Andrew Charlton published the article “Common Values for the Development Round” in the World Trade Review with help from Stieglitz. He has also published two quarterly essays: “Man-Made World” in 2011 and “Dragon’s Tail” in 2014.
